One small step for House Democrats, One Giant leap for Impeachment Trial

A procession leading House Democrat Impeachment Managers to Senate was broadcast live on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s twitter account, Thursday afternoon, January 16th.

Pelosi live streamed the House Democrats making their way to Senate to present House-passed articles for the impeachment of American President Donald Trump.

Her live stream on twitter, lasting 1 minute and 18 seconds, broadcast recently appointed House Democrat Impeachment Managers crossing the U.S. Capitol to present their articles of impeachment.

The two House-passed impeachment articles charge President Donald Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of congress.

Pelosi first announced the list of House Democrats to serve as the managers on Trump’s impeachment Senate trial in a twitter post on Wednesday, January 15th, along with the hashtag #DefendOurDemocracy.

The role of the Impeachment Manager is to present impeachment inquiries to the Senate, and using the evidence they gathered, argue why President Donald Trump should be impeached.

Pelosi revealed that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff would serve as lead manager. Other House Democrats serving as Impeachment Managers include Chairman Jerrold Nadler, Chairman Hakeen Jeffries, Rep. Jason Crow, Rep. Val Demings, Rep. Sylvia Garcia, and Rep. Zoe Lofgren.

Rep. Lofgren had served on impeachment trials in the past, during former President Nixon’s impeachment inquiry and former President Clinton’s impeachment, making this her third impeachment trial to date.

Following Pelosi’s announcement on twitter, Lofgren sent out a 3-part series of tweets explaining the severity of such a responsibility.

“Impeachment is a grave & solemn matter. It’s a stress test for our democracy,” stated Lofgren, “I hope every Senator is prepared to seriously consider & vote honestly with an open mind for the future of our democracy.”.

Rep. Lofgren, alongside the other appointed Impeachment Managers, are responsible for reading the articles of impeachment for which they present to Senate on Thursday.
